Role description and task arrangements

Social Safety Coordinator

Location: Arnhem
Start date: as soon as possible
End date: May 31, 2027, with the option to extend twice for 3 months each
Hours: 24 per week
At ArtEZ, we are looking for an experienced social safety coordinator. This temporary position will be based in the ArtEZ Executive Office.

What are you going to do?
  • You will advise and support the board and management in handling (complex) cases related to social safety within ArtEZ;
  • You will oversee reports related to social safety, taking into account the interests and expectations of all parties involved and ensuring that all actions taken are properly documented;
  • You will link ongoing and new initiatives and projects, bring together colleagues working on social safety, and ensure cohesion, structure, and knowledge sharing within ArtEZ;
  • You will translate developments and needs within the university of applied sciences into policy frameworks and proposals, as well as the development of tools in the field of social safety, with a focus on the individual, culture, structure, and leadership;
  • You will ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and the KUO Social Safety Code within ArtEZ;
  • You actively follow national developments in the area of social safety in higher education and/or the arts, serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders such as the VH, and participate in national networks;

As you get started, you can build on what has already been established. A previous study on compliance with laws and regulations regarding social safety within ArtEZ provides a solid foundation for further developing and improving policies in this area. The 2024 report from the Education Inspectorate, as well as the action plan ArtEZ developed in response, also identify areas for improvement in the area of social safety.

The organization
The day-to-day management of ArtEZ is the responsibility of the Executive Board. Most staff and support services are housed within the Service Department. The Executive Board and central services are based in Arnhem. Academic programs are organized into academies. These are led by a director, who oversees the various program directors. In addition, there is a Research Center, which is also led by a director.

The department
As a coordinator, you will be part of the Executive Office. The Executive Office supports and advises the Executive Board, the Supervisory Board, and the Central Employee Participation Council on (strategic) decision-making processes. The Executive Secretary, as head of the Executive Office, will be your supervisor.

Your profile
ArtEZ is looking for a coordinator with the following qualifications and skills:
  • You are a builder and a trailblazer;
  • You are a strong strategic partner and can easily shift to the tactical and operational levels;
  • You are attuned to organizational and environmental dynamics, with an eye for diversity both within and at ArtEZ;
  • You have proven experience in developing and implementing policies, particularly in the area of social safety;
  • You have integrity and can handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly;
  • You are fluent in spoken and written English (C1 level);
  • You have a degree at the higher professional education (HBO+) or academic level.

An interest in art education and research is, of course, a plus. You will be based in Arnhem, but you are willing to travel regularly to Enschede and Zwolle.
